Mike Hart grew up near Syracuse and will return as the Orange's running backs coach. He previously coached running backs at Western Michigan.

Syracuse has hired Western Michigan running backs coach Mike Hart to fill the same position at SU, Sports Illustrated’s Thayer Evans reported. Hart is now the eighth assistant on head coach Dino Babers’ staff.

Hart played at nearby Onondaga Central High School, where he once held the national career record for rushing touchdowns with 204. He is the all-time leading rusher at Michigan, where he played collegiately. At Michigan, Hart also finished fifth in Heisman Trophy voting in 2006, and he made the coaches’ and media’s All-Big Ten Conference first team in 2004 and 2006. Hart also played professionally for three seasons with the Indianapolis Colts.

In high school, Hart scored a touchdown in the Carrier Dome:

He served as a quality control coach at Eastern Michigan in 2011 and was promoted to running backs coach at EMU in 2012 and 2013. He’s spent the last two seasons in the same position at WMU.
