Rhodes, Dumas out against WVU

Damien Rhodes and Jameel Dumas will both sit out the Syracuse football team’s game this Saturday against West Virginia in the Carrier Dome, SU head coach Paul Pasqualoni said.

Rhodes, a sophomore running back, will miss his fifth straight game with an injured left ankle. Rhodes overcame a different injury to the same ankle after hurting it in the preseason. Rhodes has played in just four games this season.

Not as bad as Dumas, who has played in just one. Dumas injured his left knee late in the fourth quarter of SU’s season-opening win at North Carolina and hasn’t seen the field since. Two weeks ago, Dumas’ status was a game-time decision.

Despite the seemingly chronic nature of Rhodes’ and Dumas’ injuries, Pasqualoni hasn’t given up hope that the pair could return this season.

‘We’re going to keep going week by week,’ Pasqualoni said, ‘and see what unfolds.’
