The Juice

Free Beer? We’re in!

Alpha Epsilon Phi, when going door-to-door handing out invitations to their Red, White & Blue themed Crush Party at Lucy’s Retired Surfers Bar, apparently underestimated the impact of inviting one campus fraternity in particular. As the doors opened for the party at 10:30 p.m., Theta Chi was ready and waiting to enter the bar, rolling over 30 deep. The Theta Chis, reveling in their break from familiar Maggies Tavern territory, wore cowboy hats and strongly contributed to the quick ending of the free beer supplied by the bar. The AEPhis didn’t seem to mind too much, though. ‘At least we still had our wine,’ said sophomore industrial design major Jen Goldzer, one of the sorority’s sisters. According to Goldzer, though, the brothers of Zeta Beta Tau didn’t appear too pleased to see the Theta Chis on their turf.

Paradise City

When asked to name the biggest partier at Chuck’s Cafe, bartender Josh Smith hardly hesitated. ‘That’s easy,’ Smith said. ‘It’s, without a doubt, Meg Paradise. She’s in here night after night buying drinks like nobody’s business.’ Apparently, though, for Paradise, it’s her only business-friend Leyla Heckrotte tells us Paradise is only enrolled in two courses this semester.

Kappa Kappa Slamma

After enjoying happy hour at Planet505 last Friday, junior and Kappa Kappa Gamma sister Lauren Connolly got into an argument with her ex-boyfriend, senior Scott Couch. Planet 505 bouncer Mike Powell says the argument quickly escalated and Connolly pushed Couch away from her. Couch, who’d been drinking heavily fell backwards into a barstool, bringing the stool and a friend slamming down to the ground with him.

This and That…

Planet505 may publicly deny the inclination that they are ‘the new Konrad’s,’ but you’d never know that based on similarities between this year’s 505 crowd and last year’s Konrad’s crew…According to Dan Parness, a Starbuck’s employee, Jared Novack, junior and online editor for The Daily Orange, apparently has moved on to other forms of media, having recently brought female employees from the Jerk Magazine, HillTV, and Z89 to Starbuck’s for coffee dates. Two of the dates, Parness said, even occurred on the same evening.
