WBB: Cieplicki adds Hillman to SU staff

Syracuse women’s basketball head coach Keith Cieplicki announced the addition of Quentin Hillsman as an assistant coach to the Orange. Hillsman was an assistant this season at Alabama.

Prior to his work at Alabama, Hillsman was the head girls’ coach at The Patterson School in Lenoir, N.C., where he led the team to a 26-1 record and the 2003-2004 Independent Prep Schools Girl’s National Championship.

Hillsman has also worked at the Laurinburg (N.C.) School and The Newport School in Kensington, Md. He’s worked on the women’s staffs at American and Siena.

‘Getting to work with Coach Cieplicki and Coach (Matt) Luneau, two people I’ve known for a long time, is a dream opportunity for me,’ Hillsman said in a press release. ‘This program has a lot of potential, and I think I can help it reach its goals.’

Hillsman fills the vacancy created when former assistant Morgan Hall left the team for personal reasons in December.

Syracuse (13-16) completed its second season under Cieplicki on Sunday, when the Orange fell to Connecticut, 82-56, in the Big East quarterfinals.
