SOFTBALL: SU splits doubleheader vs. Canisius
The Syracuse softball team wanted to avoid a letdown before two Big East games this weekend. The Orange didn’t let down, but it certainly didn’t end its doubleheader at Canisius the way it would’ve liked.
SU won the first game, 4-1, but lost the second game, 6-3, in nine innings. The game ended on a three-run homer by Canisius’ Beth Enk.
Senior outfielder Tanya Rose had five hits in the two games and senior Tiffany Robinson recorded a hit in each game to tie the SU (27-16) record with a 13-game hitting streak. Rose set the record last season.
Erin Downey started and won game one but lost game two in relief.
The Orange plays a doubleheader at Pittsburgh on Saturday and two games at Notre Dame on Sunday to end its regular-season schedule.
