JUNE 4, 1:31 P.M. – Former Syracuse University senior Timothy J. Ginocchetti admitted today in Onondaga County Court that he stabbed his mother to death in their home last August.

Ginocchetti, 21, plead guilty to first-degree manslaughter and agreed upon a sentence of 20 years in state prison promised by Judge Anthony Aloi. Because both sides agreed Ginocchetti caused his mother’s death while under circumstances of emotional disturbance, his sentence was reduced to manslaughter.

Aloi said Ginocchetti admitted he stabbed his mother, Pamela, ‘multiple times with knives.’

Aloi offered no information about a possible motive.

Ginocchetti will be formally sentenced on July 16 at 8:30 a.m. in Onondaga County Court, Aloi said.

Aug. 29, 2006 – Ginocchetti’s pretrial hearing is waived to the grand jury.

Aug. 24, 2006 – Ginocchetti is charged with second-degree murder in Manlius Town Court.

Aug. 23, 2006 (11:30 p.m.) – Manlius police arrive to the Ginocchetti home after receiving a phone call from Ginocchetti.

Aug. 23, 2006 (10:30 p.m.) – Ginocchetti stabs mother to death in home.

March 7, 2002 – Ginocchetti’s father, John, dies while fighting a house fire in Pompey, N.Y.
