Joseph drafted by Boston in second round with 51st overall pick
Former Syracuse forward Kris Joseph will join teammate Fab Melo in Boston after being drafted by the Celtics in the second round of the 2012 NBA Draft Thursday night.
Joseph was taken with the 51st overall pick while Boston selectedMelo with the 22nd pick in the first round.
Joseph was the Orange’s leading scorer last season, averaging 13.4 points per game. During his time with SU, the forward was a consistent scorer and gave opposing team fits with his athleticism and length on the defensive end of the floor in Syracuse’s 2-3 zone.
He shot 42.1 percent from the field his senior season, and 34.5 percent from beyond the 3-point line. Joseph also finished with 4.7 rebounds per game.
The Montreal native is the second small forward from Syracuse to be drafted in the last two years, following his predecessor Wes Johnson, who was taken by the Minnesota Timberwolves with the fourth overall pick of the 2010 draft.
