Syracuse lands commitment from 4-star forward in class of 2013
Tyler Roberson, a four-star forward, committed to Syracuse on Friday.
The 6-foot-9 forward from Rosellle Catholic High School in New Jersey announced his decision on ESPNU’s Signing Day Special, choosing the Orange over Villanova and Kansas.
“They’re going into the (Atlantic Coast Conference) next year, which is going to be a really good conference,” Roberson said on ESPNU. “Coach Boeheim, he’s like one of the best coaches in college basketball, and they’re just a really good college team.”
Scout.com ranked Roberson at No. 46 in the class of 2013. Scout also ranked him 14th in the nation at his position. Rivals also gave him four stars while ranking him seventh at forward.
Roberson’s length makes him a perfect fit for the Orange’s 2-3 zone. While he’s dominant in the low post, he has also has the ability drain shots from the outside, giving Syracuse a versatile threat.
Roberson said he’s looking to help out Syracuse in any way possible.
“Just to come in and help the team out however I can and contribute,” Roberson said of his expected role.
