Joseph, Rautins invited to Canadian national team training camp
Former Syracuse basketball stars Kris Joseph and Andy Rautins will compete in the Canadian national team’s training camp starting Friday.
Joseph, a Montreal native, was recently traded from the Brooklyn Nets to the Boston Celtics as a financial factor in a blockbuster deal. He’s currently considering offers from the NBA, Europe and China, according to The Post-Standard.
Rautins, whose father Leo was born and raised in Toronto, played for the Chicago Bulls in the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas earlier this month. Rautins’ agent told The Post-Standard he will play in the NBA or Europe next season.
Among the 18 players invited to the camp, other prominent players include Miami Heat center Joel Anthony, San Antonio Spurs guard Cory Joseph, Orlando Magic forward Andrew Nicholson and Cleveland Cavaliers forward Tristan Thompson.
Anthony Bennett, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, and Kelly Olynyk, the No. 13 pick, are both sitting out due to injuries. Highly touted incoming Kansas freshman Andrew Wiggins is also absent from the roster, listed below.
