At 6 feet, 6 inches and 250 pounds, Benzschawel is ranked No. 51 at his position by Scout. He chose Syracuse over offers from Iowa State, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, North Dakota, Northern Colorado and Wyoming.
Benzschawel reached his decision after making a visit to SU this past weekend for the Orange’s game against No. 3 Clemson. Offensive guard Aaron Roberts also committed to Syracuse following a trip to campus this weekend.
The Orange now has 14 players verbally committed to its Class of 2014.
