Roly Poly reopens with change in ownership, lowers sandwich prices
The Roly Poly sandwich store located at 727 South Crouse Ave. recently reopened with new ownership and lower prices.
Sandwiches from Roly Poly used to cost $7.25 for a whole sandwich and $4.25 for a half sandwich, but now a whole sandwich costs $6.95 and a half sandwich costs $3.95, said Brett Langley, general manager of the Syracuse Roly Poly store.
Linda Wolf, president and founder of the Roly Poly franchise, said the Syracuse location has “rolled back (its) prices to what they were when the store opened five years ago.”
The store closed around the holidays for remodeling and had its grand reopening on Wednesday, Wolf said.
Roly Poly stores sell an assortment of hot and cold rolled sandwiches, toasted sandwiches, soups and salads. Stores also offer white, whole wheat and gluten-free tortilla options for their sandwiches. In addition, Roly Poly stores offer delivery and catering. The Roly Poly franchise system currently has approximately 100 stores, Wolf said.
“We like to think of ourselves as a niche nutritious and healthy sandwich franchise,” Wolf said.
The previous owner of the Syracuse location retired and sold the store to Dominic Crocilla, the landlord of Roly Poly’s New Hartford, New York location, said Wolf.
She added that the previous owner was a “good guy” and was “very dedicated to Roly Poly.”
Crocilla will continue to be the landlord for the New Hartford location while taking on the new ownership of the Syracuse store, Langley said.
In addition to a new owner and several new staff members, the Syracuse Roly Poly store has updated its menu boards, adding more soup variety and new vegetarian and vegan sandwich options.
As the new owner, Crocilla has plans to open at least two more Roly Poly multi-units in the surrounding area, Wolf said.
The newly-owned store will be open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
