SA president does not say if refunds will be given after broken down bus incident

At the Syracuse Student Association’s Monday night meeting in Maxwell Auditorium, President Aysha Seedat and the assembly briefly discussed the SA-sponsored bus that broke down on I-81 near Binghamton on Sunday.

When the bus broke down, students groaned and requested refunds. But Seedat, who met Monday morning with Director of Student Activities Dave Sargalski to discuss the matter, did not say whether the students on the bus will be refunded. She added that airline flights are often delayed and passengers aren’t typically refunded.

“It’s not the first time one of the buses has broken down,” Seedat said.

The bus broke down at 6 p.m. Sunday, roughly an hour after it was scheduled to arrive at Syracuse. It had come from Union Station in Washington, D.C. While the bus was broken down, no students were allowed to leave the bus until a second bus, which was also bound from Union Station, arrived.
