Syracuse racks up five individual wins at the Cornell Marc Deneault Invitational

Syracuse had its final meet of the indoor regular season on Saturday and the Orange ended it with a bang at the Cornell Marc Deneault Invitational, racking up five wins and having the top collegiate runner in an additional two events.

Tia Thevenin won the women’s 60-meter hurdles finals with a time of 8.44 seconds. Aviana Goode not only won the long jump with a distance of 5.83 meters but also placed second in the high jump at 1.65 meters. In the women’s 60-meter dash, Eunice Boateng finished third in the finals with a time of 7.53 seconds, the best time of all collegiate runners. Imani Clark placed fifth, followed by Justice Richardson in sixth and Victoria Parker in eighth.

On the men’s side, top performances came from Jamil Adams and Jalen Racine who finished first and second, respectively in the 300-meter dash. Adams’ winning time was 36.05 seconds. The men also fared well in the mile run, where Simon Smith won with a time of 4:11.24. Andy Paladino finished third, Dominic Hockenbury finished seventh and Jared Lautenslager finished ninth.

Syracuse men also dominated the 60-meter hurdles, with Angelo Goss placing second as the top collegiate runner at 7.90 seconds and Matt Moore finishing .005 seconds behind him in third. Another win came from the men’s distance medley team of Philo Germano, Pascal Bastien, Nathan Henderson and Aidan Tooker, who placed first with a time of 9:52.35.



In the women’s 800-meter run, Hannah Loder was the top Orange runner, finishing eighth with a time of 2:24.57. In the women’s mile run, Kayli Jones placed ninth with a time of 5:24.32 while Ryley Higgins finished shortly behind her in eleventh. In the 3000-meter run, Olivia Elston and Kelsey Potts finished fifth and sixth respectively, with Elston recording a time of 10:18.78.

In the men’s 60-meter dash, Kashif Miller qualified for the finals and placed seventh with a time of 6.91 seconds. Randall Johnson placed fifth in both the high jump (at 1.95 meters) and the long jump (at 6.87 meters). In the long jump, Pascal Bastien placed right behind him in sixth. The men’s top runner in the 800-meter run was Sam Somera who placed 20th with a time of 2:04.81. In the 3000-meter run, it was Matt Cavallaro, who finished 16th with a time of 9:11.78.

Syracuse will travel to Clemson and run in the ACC Indoor Championships this Thursday through Saturday.
