Tyus Battle is second among ACC players in scoring, at 19.7 points per game.

Tyus Battle was named as a finalist for the Jerry West Shooting Guard of the Year award on Tuesday. The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame named a watchlist of 20 in October and chopped the list in half today.

Battle ranks second among Atlantic Coast Conference players in scoring with 19.7 points per game, trailing just Duke’s Marvin Bagley III (21.4). In Syracuse’s (16-8, 5-6 ACC) win against Louisville on Monday, Battle scored a game-high 25 points.

Joining Battle on the list of 10 finalists is his ACC counterpart from Duke, Grayson Allen. The other eight finalists are Allonzo Trier (Arizona), Chandler Hutchinson (Boise State), Marcus Foster (Creighton), Rob Gray (Houston), Kendrick Nunn (Oakland), Carsen Edwards (Purdue), E.C. Matthews (Rhode Island) and Fletcher Magee (Wofford).

The three previous winners of the award were Malik Monk (Kentucky) in 2017, Buddy Hield (Oklahoma) in 2016 and D’Angelo Russell (Ohio State) in 2015.

Five finalists will be presented to West and the Hall of Fame’s selection committee in March. The winner will be honored at ESPN’s College Basketball Awards on April 6 in Los Angeles.
