Syracuse will face Ohio State in 2018’s ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Nov. 28, SU Athletics confirmed in a release on Friday.
The Buckeyes finished the 2017-18 season with a 25-9 record, including 15-3 in the Big Ten. That earned them a fifth seed in the NCAA Tournament, where they knocked off South Dakota State before falling to Gonzaga in the round of 32. OSU lost its top scorer and rebounder from a season ago, Keita Bates-Diop, to the NBA Draft.
The all-time series between the Orange and Buckeyes favors OSU, with five of the seven matchups going to the team from Columbus. The most recent meeting between the teams was in the 2012 NCAA Tournament, an Elite Eight game the Buckeyes won, 77-70. Future NBA forward Jared Sullinger was the game-high scorer that day (19 points), while Brandon Triche led the Orange with 15.
It will be the second year at the helm for Ohio State head coach Chris Holtmann, who took over for Thad Matta prior to last season. Before his time with the Buckeyes, Holtmann was the head coach at Garnder-Webb and then at Butler.
Dates and times have yet to be released and the official announcement will come soon, according to the report.
