Syracuse dropped its season-opener to No. 6 Boston College, 5-1, in Chestnut Hill, MA. The Orange has not won its first road game of the season since 2013.

The Eagles opened the first period with a goal from Caitrin Lonergan. Less than two minutes later, SU made it a two-goal deficit when BC’s Lindsay Agnew scored.

BC added onto its lead with two more goals in the second period from the Eagles’ Megan Keller and Daryl Watts. Makenna Newkirk led Boston College with three points, posting one goal and two assists.

Syracuse’s lone goal came off of a power-play from Brooke Avery. Avery led the Orange with 14 goals last season.

Last season, the Orange recorded its worst record since 2011-2012 when it went 13-21-2. SU will play its home opener when it takes on Mercyhurst on Friday at Tennity Ice Pavilion.
