Tyus Battle earned Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week honors for the second time this season, the ACC announced in a press release Monday. The award comes after Battle scored 21 points in Syracuse’s win over St. Bonaventure last Saturday.

In the Orange’s 81-47 win, Battle shot a perfect 8 for 8 from the field and 5 for 6 from the foul line. It was the first game of his SU career in which he didn’t miss a field goal attempt. The 6-foot-6 junior also added six steals, a career-high, in Syracuse’s season-high steals total against the Bonnies.

Battle’s previous Player of the Week honors came in the first week of December after the Orange beat then-No. 16 Ohio State and Cornell. SU’s starting shooting guard is averaging 18.0 points per game this season, on 48.1 percent shooting after his perfect afternoon.

After his 21 points Saturday, Battle ranks No. 37 in career scoring at Syracuse, with 1,331 career points. Battle and SU begin ACC play on Saturday, Jan. 5 at noon in South Bend, Indiana against Notre Dame.
