For the third time this season, Tyus Battle’s performance earned him Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week honors. It comes on the back of a 2-0 week for Syracuse (13-5, 4-1 Atlantic Coast) in which Battle played every second for the Orange.

Battle also was named the CollegeSportsMadness.com National Player of the Week, the Lute Olson Award National Player of the Week, the Naismith Trophy Men’s Player of the Week and Andy Katz’s Player of the Week.

Last Monday, Battle led SU to an upset at No. 1 Duke, making Syracuse the first unranked team to ever beat a No. 1 Blue Devils team in Cameron Indoor Stadium. The SU junior led the way with 32 points in the overtime win, including 7-for-7 from the foul line. Battle added four rebounds, four assists and a steal.

Battle starred again on Saturday in a win over Pittsburgh that prevented two home losses in a row for the Orange. He scored a game-high 22 points on 9-of-17 shooting from the field. Battle added three rebounds, two assists, a steal and tied a career-high with two blocks. The win over Pitt, coupled with Duke’s victory over Virginia later on Saturday, tied Syracuse with the top record in the ACC at 4-1.

After his 22 points against Pittsburgh, Battle now has 1,425 in his Syracuse career, good for 30th on the all-time SU scoring list. Next up to pass is Trevor Cooney at 1,437 points.

The Orange are in action again on Thursday hosting Miami in the Carrier Dome at 8 p.m.
