Arizona State transfer Journey Thompson has committed to Syracuse, she announced on social media Saturday. The forward spent two seasons with the Sun Devils before announcing she’d enter the transfer portal on April 15. Thompson is the first transfer Syracuse has landed this offseason.

After only appearing in 13 games her freshman season due to injury, Thompson played in all 31 games for Arizona State, starting 25 in 2023-24. Thompson averaged 5.5 points per game and led the Sun Devils in rebounds per game (4.4). On Jan. 14 against Oregon State, she registered a career-high 16 points in 25 minutes, one of her eight double-figure performances throughout the season.

So far this offseason, Syracuse has lost four players to the portal, including Alyssa Latham, Kennedi Perkins, Marilena Triantafylli and Cheyenne McEvans.

With Latham the most significant loss out of the portal after appearing in all 32 games, Thompson brings added depth to Syracuse’s frontcourt. She joins a forward group of Kyra Wood, Saniaa Wilson and Izabel Varejão.
