Syracuse men’s lacrosse (11-5, 3-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) dropped to No. 4 in the Week 13 Inside Lacrosse Poll. The Orange were dismantled 18-13 by No. 2 Duke in the ACC Tournament semifinals on May 3. The week prior, SU rose one spot after not playing a game for a week but having previously defeated Virginia in its regular season finale.

Despite defeating Duke 10-4 on March 20, the Blue Devils’ worst offensive performance since 2012, the Orange faltered in the rematch. Five minutes in, Duke had already had a greater offensive output than the regular season matchup, leading 5-0. Syracuse put together a few minor scoring runs, but it was ultimately dominated.

Coming off a 1-for-11 shooting performance against Syracuse, reigning Tewaaraton winner Brennan O’Neill came back with four goals and two assists. Andrew McAdorey and Dyson Williams combined for nine more goals as Duke’s top three scorers equaled SU’s total for the game.

Now Syracuse turns its focus to the NCAA Tournament where it will take on No. 15 Towson in the first round.
