SU men’s XC rises to No. 19, women climb to No. 28

Syracuse's men's cross country team moved up three spots while its women's squad climbed one spot in the latest NCAA Cross Country Coaches' poll.

Following back-to-back strong performances, Syracuse is one of 17 schools to have both its men’s and women’s cross-country teams ranked. In the latest NCAA Cross Country Coaches’ Poll, the men’s team was ranked No. 19 while the women’s team ended up being ranked No. 28.

SU’s men’s squad earned 137 points in the poll, moving up three spots in the national rankings from the previous week. As for the rankings in the Northeast Region, SU moved up one spot to No. 2, right behind Harvard. The Orange have claimed the top spot at both of their two meets, while redshirt junior Sam Lawler won ACC Performer of the Week following his first-place finish in the Spiked Shoe Invitational at Penn State.

Syracuse’s women’s side moved up a spot in the national poll, earning 35 points. The Orange stayed put at No. 3 in the regional rankings. Providence holds the No. 1 ranking, with Boston College right behind it at No. 2. The women’s team earned a first-place finish at Colgate to open the year. It would earn second the following week at the Spiked Shoe Invitational, right behind first-place Penn State.
