Syracuse has hired Blaine Miller as its new nickels coach, ESPN’s Pete Thamel announced on Sunday. Over the past two seasons, Miller has been working as a defensive analyst for Georgia. He was on the same staff as SU head coach Fran Brown, who was the Bulldogs’ secondary coach from 2022-23.

Early in his career, Miller spent three seasons at the University of Alabama at Birmingham before earning a job with the University of Alabama in 2015, when UAB’s program shut down temporarily. In Tuscaloosa, he was a player personnel assistant and on-campus recruiting assistant. In 2016, Georgia hired Miller as a quality control analyst for its defense. Three years later, he followed then-Georgia defensive coordinator Mel Tucker to Colorado.

He spent three seasons as a graduate assistant in Boulder prior to becoming defensive line coach at East Central Community College (MS). His next stop was Faulkner University (AL), where he was the defensive coordinator from 2021-22. Following his time with Georgia, Miller is now reunited with Brown at Syracuse.
