Oshae Brissett earned Atlantic Coast Conference Rookie of the Week honors after a strong two games for Syracuse (18-9, 7-7 Atlantic Coast) this past week. Brissett shared the honor with Virginia’s De’Andre Hunter.
The 6-foot-8 freshman starred last Wednesday for the Orange in a losing effort. While the Orange fell to North Carolina State, 74-70, Brissett torched the Wolfpack for a game-high 25 points. That came with a season-best-tying 4-for-7 from beyond the arc and a season-best-tying three steals.
On Saturday in Coral Gables, Florida, Brissett helped SU bounce back on the road. Syracuse defeated Miami, 62-55, as the forward tallied the 10th double-double of his SU career. His final statline included 16 points, 12 rebounds and two more made 3s.
Overall, Brissett shot 6-for-13 from 3-point land in two games last week, an improvement from the beginning of the season that has diversified his offensive profile.
Hunter, the Cavaliers redshirt freshman, put up 22 points in UVA’s defeat of Miami last Tuesday.
Syracuse is back in action Wednesday night in the Carrier Dome against No. 10 North Carolina.
