Syracuse begins the outdoor season with races at 3 different meets

Syracuse, pictured during cross country, began its outdoor track season on Friday night at three different meets.

On Friday, Syracuse began the outdoor season at the 2018 Pepsi Florida Relays, Stanford Invitational and Raleigh Relays. Philo Germano had the best finish of the bunch with a second-place finish in the men’s 5000-meters section 2 race at Stanford with a time of 13:50.48. Aidan Tooker finished shortly behind him in fourth.

Paige Stoner also had a strong showing at Stanford, placing sixth in the 10000-meter invitational with a time of 32:23.38. Shannon Malone took home 12th. Colin Bennie finished seventh on the men’s side with a time of 28:37.04. Iliass Aouani placed 20th with a time of 29:29.43 in section 2 of the 10000-meters.

Also at Stanford, Madeleine Davison placed 14th with a time of 16:57.92 in the women’s 5000-meters. Sydney Leiher finished ninth with a time of 10:57.11 in the 3000-meter steeplechase.

Meanwhile, in Florida, Matt Moore had the best finish with an eighth-place, 14.00-second run in the men’s 110-meter hurdles. David Gilstrap finished behind him in 29th, followed by Richard Floyd in 33rd, Kevin Almonte in 46th and Chevis Armstead II in 55th. Also on the men’s side, Winston Lee placed 26th in the 100-meter dash with a 10.66-second finish.

On the women’s side in the Florida Relays, Kadejhia Sellers placed 12th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 53.67 seconds. Imani Clark, running in the 100-meter dash, placed 27th with a time of 12.00 seconds. Aviana Goode ran the 100-meter hurdles, placing 41st with a time of 14.24 seconds and Danielle Delgado finished shortly behind her in 53rd.



Finally, at the Raleigh Relays, Simon Smith led the way in the 1500-meters with a 17th-place finish of 3:48.34. On Saturday morning, Dominic Hockenbury placed 21st in the men’s 10000-meters with a time of 29:36.64. Kevin James finished 27th and Joe Dragon placed 34th.

The Orange will remain in action all-day Saturday at the 2018 Pepsi Florida Relays and the Stanford Invitational.
