Recipe: Fruity smoothie

You’ve seen the research. You’ve heard the lectures. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and students who eat it typically get better grades, stay more alert and are not overweight. But grabbing that early morning meal seems nearly impossible, with so many forces working against it. You sleep late, you have nothing good to eat in your room, the dining hall’s out of the way – and how many people get up for breakfast before 10 a.m.?

If you scour the dining hall at dinner tonight and grab a couple key ingredients, you can make a filling, vitamin-packed and tasty breakfast smoothie for tomorrow within minutes. Then, you can pop it into a travel mug or water bottle and take it with you to class. Just track down a blender – or get your parents to buy you one.

Add to shopping cart: 2 containers of yogurt or soy yogurt (blueberry works best)2 medium bananas 1 packet instant oatmeal1 1/3 cup orange juice1 1/2 cups ice
