McNamara hopeful vs. Providence

After twisting his ankle in Wednesday’s 83-69 win over St. John’s, Syracuse guard Gerry McNamara returned to practice on Thursday.

The junior walked around the court without a limp and shot the ball with ease, but he did not take part in most of the Orange’s drills.

‘Gerry turned his ankle pretty good,’ said SU head coach Jim Boeheim. ‘He should be able to play. He got banged in the chest too, but he normally plays hurt as good as anybody I’ve seen, so I expect him to play.’

McNamara scored eight points against St. John’s before leaving midway through the second half. McNamara did not return to the game.
