Norm Chow
USC Offensive coordinator

Background: Chow broke in to coaching in 1970, when he began at Waialua High School. Since then, he’s bounced around from BYU to North Carolina State to USC. At BYU, Chow served from 1973-1999, working as a graduate assistant, wide receivers coach, recruiting coordinator, wide receivers coach, quarterbacks coach, offensive coordinator and assistant head coach. At USC, he has served as offensive coordinator the last four seasons.

Skinny: Most rumors have Chow coming to Syracuse. He has the connection in incoming athletic director Daryl Gross, who came from USC. Chow’s credentials speak for themselves. As offensive coordinator, he’s worked with a Heisman Trophy candidate two of the last three years: Carson Palmer and Matt Leinart.

Kevin Rogers
VIRGINIA TECH Quarterbacks coach

Background: The Brooklyn native who played linebacker for the College of William & Mary is in his 26th year as a college coach. Rogers coached at Ohio State, William & Mary and Navy before coming to Syracuse in 1991. He then spent eight years as SU’s quarterbacks coach, while also serving stints as recruiting coordinator and offensive coordinator. Rogers spent the next three seasons as quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator for Notre Dame before joining Virginia Tech in 2002.

Skinny: Rogers is familiar with SU’s system after working under Pasqualoni for eight years in a variety of positions. His biggest success was fostering the development of Donovan McNabb during his tenure. After a rough stint with Notre Dame, Rogers is back to developing mobile quarterbacks like Bryan Randall at Virginia Tech.

Al Golden
UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA Defensive coordinator

Background: The Colts Neck, N.J., native was a two-year starter at tight end for Penn State. Golden started as a graduate assistant on Virginia’s staff from 1994-96 and spent the next three years as Boston College’s linebackers coach. He then spent one season as Penn State’s linebackers coach and recruiting coordinator before going to Charlottesville, Va., in 2001.

Skinny: At 35, Golden is a young East Coast native who’s an excellent recruiter. He played under former SU coach Dick McPherson on the 1992 New England Patriots. He’s also rumored to be high on Penn State’s wish list.

Dan Mullen
UTAH Quarterbacks coach

Background: Mullen began as wide receivers coach at Wagner from 1994-95 and at Columbia from 1996-97. He spent one year as a graduate assistant at Syracuse in 1998 and spent the next two years at Notre Dame. There, he worked closely with former Utes head coach Urban Meyer. The two coaches spent the next two years at Bowling Green, with Mullen as Meyer’s quarterbacks coach, before heading to Utah in 2003.

Skinny: Like Golden, Mullen has his best years ahead of him at the age of 32. He’s an East Coast native who worked with the Orange during McNabb’s final year. He turned Utah quarterback Alex Smith into a Heisman candidate and is very familiar with running Meyer’s spread offense.

Doug Marrone
NEW YORK JETSOffensive line coach

Background: Marrone starred on Syracuse’s offensive line from 1983-86 and later spent several years in the professional ranks. Marrone entered the coaching ranks as Cortland State’s tight ends coach in 1992, and after bouncing around for a couple years, worked at Georgia Tech from 1995-99 as director of football operations, tight ends coach and then offensive line coach. He spent the next year at Georgia and the next at Tennessee before joining the Jets in 2002.

Skinny: Marrone is another coach with Syracuse ties, only this time as a player. Though he doesn’t have a great deal of experience, Marrone has seen his share of coaching success. The Yellow Jackets led the nation in total offense in 1999 with him as their offensive line coach.

Bob Casullo
NEW YORK JETSTight ends coach
Creds: Coached at Syracuse from 1985-94, overseeing special teams, tight ends and running backs. He also spent two years as the head coach at Baldwinsville High School and 10 seasons as an assistant at Henninger High School.

George O’Leary
CENTRAL FLORIDAHead coach
Spent seven seasons coaching at Syracuse from 1980-1986. He worked as defensive line coach the entire duration and also served as an assistant head coach from 1985-86.
